Finding A Home For Your Files On The Mac:
The Difference Between Your Home Folder And Your Network Drive.
When you first sign-on to a Mac using your Providence College login and password, a Home Folder is created. The folder is located in the Finder window on the left-hand side under the Desktop icon. The folder’s icon is a house and will have your login name next to it. The Home Folder is specific to your login on that specific computer. This means that the documents live on that computer alone.
Benefits: No one else will have access to this folder.
Disadvantages: Your Home Folder will not be able to be accessed from any other computer. When you sign on to another Mac using your PC login a new Home Folder will be created for that Mac.
