This is the first in a series of Tech Tips produced by the Digital Services Lab which will provide tips and short tutorials for using the new Macintosh computers and scanners in the Library. We hope these will help you use our new technology resources to the best of their abilities.
Simple PDF Creation On A Mac
When using a Macintosh computer, the easiest way to create a PDF from any document, in any program is using the “Save As PDF…” button in the print window.
Select File;Print in any program and instead of clicking the PRINT button…Then click the “Save As PDF…”button at the bottom of the print window. This is a system wide feature, and available whether the computer has Acrobat installed or not. This way you can create a PDF from Word, PowerPoint, or Firefox.
For more information check out this link from Mac OS x 10.4 Help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?
If you have any questions or suggestions for further Tech Tips you can contact the Digital Services Lab by email :digitalserviceslab@providence.edu

The Providence College Campus Ministry is sponsoring PC’s participation in the nationwide project to send condolences and letters of comfort and support to Virginia Tech. The campus community is encouraged to drop off letters and notes at the Campus Ministry Center this week. A table (along with a supply of Providence College note cards) has also been set up in the library (on the first level near the pit) for those interested in sending words of comfort to the students, faculty and staff at Virginia Tech.
