Laptops in the library

The Access Services Department now has 29 working laptop computers available for patrons to borrow. They can be used anywhere in the library. The checkout period is for 2 hour intervals and depending upon the demand they can be renewed.

Creation Station/Macintosh Lab Now Open

We were working on setting it up through the later half of the fall term, but our new resource lab is now open and available for use by Faculty and Students. The Creation Station is located on the main floor of the Library, Room 110, near the Government Documents collection.

The Creation Station/Macintosh Lab is a collaborative workspace, featuring two new 24-inch Intel-Core-2 iMac computers each with Epson flatbed scanner. Both computers have a Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the Apple iLife Suite (iMove, iDVD, Garage Band, and iTunes), as well as the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver).

The Lab is set up on a slightly restricted user access. It is available for Faculty and Student use, but you must check out a key at the Circulation Desk to access the lab. And we ask that users log-in using their PC username and password, in order to have access to their network drive.

We will hopefully continue to grow the lab, adding new software and machines, as time goes on. But encourage all to stop by and check it out and play with our new computer resources.

The New Library Commons Blog

Happy New Year! While most of the campus is still on break, we have given the old library blog a bit of a polish…You may have also noticed some changes in the library during the last semester: new furniture and signs in the recently renamed Information Station  (Reference area) and new Macintosh computers, just to name a few. Check here regularly for announcements and news from myself and other Library Commons staff regarding library services, collections and some of the new resources and collaborative learning spaces we will be launching in the coming months.
